This ongoing series of portraits was conceived in 2018 as an exploration of teenagers’ relationship with their digital devices. They chat with friends, play games, exchange jokes, work on school projects, play pranks, follow their favourite celebrities, share music, share heart breaks, all made easy through the digital screen. Through the process of creating this series I discovered how quickly they embrace both the comforting anonymity and the familiarity of strangers, cocooned in their private world; a world full of possibilities, giving them joy, validation, knowledge and hope that perhaps the real world doesn’t fulfill.

Now in 2020, in the context of the global pandemic situation, this series finds a larger context to initiate conversations around our inseparable relationship with the digital screens. While my series is centered around teenagers, this can apply to each one of us today as we navigate a strange new world through the glowing screen.
